I was in the hospital for about 24 hours, I stayed overnight and left around the middle of the day the next day. Adults usually go in for a day pocedure (though it depends on your surgery, stability, etc..) I'm under 18 so I had to stay the night at the hospital. My neck hurt for about a week or two.. the pain meds helped a lot though. For about 2 weeks, my neck was pretty stiff and it was hard to turn it to the side, but it eventually went back to normal. I missed about a week and a half of school. You probably won't have to miss much work. Last April, they took out half of my thyroid..
